EIA: CONNECTING RAVERS SINCE 2020
A LITTLE INTRODUCTION
International Afterparty - or EIA - is the passion project of two young men from Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. Starting out with the creation of a Discord server in the midst of the first COVID-lockdowns in April 2020, the EIA community has since grown to be so much more.
Encompassing a wide variety of IRL and online activities, EIA is not just a Discord server anymore. Although the Discord remains the backbone of our endeavours (we even use Discord as our online office building!), we have started doing weekly livestreams on Twitch in October 2020, IRL bass music events under the name REIAL in May 2022 and even begun our very own bass music label called REIAL Audio in early 2023!
We have a passion for (drum and) bass music and we live to see people have a good time. We pride ourselves and our community with being open and welcoming to everyone, whether you are as involved with bass music as we are or not. Our events are a happy environment and share positive vibes with all visitors, no matter how involved they are with EIA.
We Love music, we love people. We have been connecting ravers ever since 2020 and will continue to do so for a long time into the future.
“EIA? WHAT DOES THE E MEAN?”
Is probably the single most asked question we get. And the truth is a lot less interesting than what you might think. And so we are not going to tell you. ☺
Right from the start, we were looking for a way to shorten International Afterparty. We quickly found out that just ‘IA’ wasn’t going to work. It was too short and too boring (even though to this day ‘/ia’ remains our Discord vanity URL).
Then, one day in 2020, one of the amazing designers in our community came up with the first iteration of our logo which consisted of the signature Party Parrot with headphones and three letters: E I A. Thus our signature abbreviation was born.
However what does that E mean? Numerous discussions have emerged, it has intrigued scholars for generations and caused global riots- okay let’s not get dramatic.
As we said before, the truth is not interesting at all, so we will not bother you with that. However, ever since we started our label: REIAL Audio, we have found a way to retcon the E in EIA. As the collection of our community-grown Various Artist EP’s is known as ‘Ellipsis’, named after the three dots representing the I in the REIAL logo.
So to summarise: the E stands for Ellipsis, which stands for the I in EIA!
Truly an Enigma.
